Biopathological - Microbiological Department
Τhe reliability of the department is primarily based on the experience and specializations of the Head of the Department, Biopathologist Dr. George Georgoulias, M.D. Spanning 20 years as a full–time scientific officer at the Henry Dunant Hospital Centre, Dr. Georgoulias has been responsible for all diagnostic tests performed on patients who were examined in outpatient clinics. In addition, Dr. Georgoulias gained thorough experience through his daily work and his dedication to the subject, holding the position of scientific director of Locus Medicus microbiological laboratory since 2006.
Dr. Georgoulias’ and the laboratory’s expertise is centered around the infections, as well as the clinicolaboratory justifications, behind a couple’s infertility. This department is responsible for issuing case-specific treatment plans, and determining the guidelines that are to be followed for the treatment of more complex and persistent chronic genital infections. Additionally, his daily interaction and collaboration with his fellow clinical and laboratory scientists at Locus Medicus, has greatly contributed to broad knowledge of the nature of diseases at hand, as well as understanding of the measures to be taken for the prevention of future resurgence and relapse.
The Microbiology department staff consists of highly trained Technologists, with many years of targeted experience and knowledge. The laboratory has acquired all up-to-date certifications and frequently performs internal and external systematic quality controls. Access to reliable and accurate hematological results is of utmost importance to us.

- Stamey culture for examination of prostatitis.

- Rapid test Covid-19 and INFLUENZA A & B.
- SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) IgM and IgG Antibody Test .
- INFLUENZA test A and B: Detection of strains of influenza virus type A and B, including the most common in Greece H1N1 and H3N2 (Immunochromatography).
- Special cultures: Fungal culture for onychomycosis and dermatomycosis.
- Fungogram with reference method. Determination of the minimum inhibitory density (MIC) by chromatometry microdilution method.
- MIC Colistin by plate microdilution method (standard method).
